Students are admitted to the various courses of study in the college on the basis of the rules prescribed by the University of Calicut and communicated to the college from time to time.

Every year the University notifies an uniform schedule of admission of students for the different UG and PG courses in the affiliated colleges. He schedule contain the last date for issue of applications, date of publication of rank lists on the college notice board and the last date for admission.

A centralized Admission Committee is constituted every academic year consisting of faculty members representing all the departments in the college for the admissions to the first year Degree courses. The admissions to the PG courses are conducted by the concerned PG departments.

The degree admission committee, along with the assistance and support from the college IT center, prepares the rank lists and schedule of dates of interviews. The ranking of candidates for various courses is made strictly according to the rules and guidelines prescribed by the university. The first list consists of a sure list containing the names and the index marks of candidates selected for sure admission for all seats in each degree course. This list is accompanied by a supplementary chance list consisting of at least five times the number of candidates ranked in the sure list. Separate sure and chance lists are prepared for admission to fill the vacancies of each quota. The rank lists and the supplementary lists for admission under each quota are sent to the Registrar, University of Calicut.

The admission committee makes available to the concerned departments the ranked lists, application forms and interview cards to be dispatched along with the dates of interview, fee schedule and ‘UCP’ forms. The interview cares are posted ‘Under Certificate of Posting”.

The selection for admission of students for admission in the college for each degree course is done on the following basis.


Open Merit Quota: 50% of the seats are reserved for admission to the seats are reserved for candidates within the open merit quota as follows.

 

Physically handicapped: Three % of the seas for degree courses are specifically reserved for Physically Handicapped candidates. The candidates having minimum 40% disability certified by the Medical Board are considered for admission to the reserved seats earmarked for the physically challenged students. 

 

Sports quota: Two seats in each UG course are reserved for candidates with outstanding records in sports and games. Only candidates who have satisfied the prescribed norms are eligible for admission under sports quota.

 

Lakshadweep Quota: One seat each in UG and PG course is additionally created and reserved over and above the sanctioned strength, but within the statutory maximum limit for the native students of the Union Territory of Lakshadweep, recommended by the Director of Education, Union Territory of Lakshadweep.

 

Reservation Quota: 20% of the seats are reserved for Scheduled castes and Scheduled tribes to be filled upon merit basis from among the students of Scheduled Caste (15%) and Scheduled Tribe (5%) with interchangeability in the absence of either communities.

 

Management Quota: 20% of the seats for admission are reserved as management quota. The candidates seeking admission under this quota are expected to apply separately to the college educational agency. The selection procedure is done by Management Office and the list of selected candidates is provided to the College and other admission formalities are completed.

 

Community Quota: 10% of the seats are reserved for the community to which the college belongs. These seats are filled upon merit basis from among students belonging to te Zamorin family, Kshatriya, Samantha an Namboodiri communities. A separate selection committee is constituted to fill this quota.

 

Sports Additional seats: Additional seats can be created over and above the sanctioned in the statutory for each UG course for the admission of outstanding ports star based on the recommendation of the Director, Department of Physical Education University of Calicut.

 

Marginal Increase of seats for UG Courses.

 

With the intention to increase the intake capacity, the college applies to the University of Calicut, each academic year for a marginal increase of seats for UG Courses

 

Accordingly, the University issues orders for each year, sanctioning marginal increase of seats for those courses for which the increase does not exceed the statutory limit. The following courses in the college get increase of 20% of the sanctioned strength for the said course.
